This week was tech week in the library. Students in 1st - 4th grades went unplugged to learn about algorithms and programs with lessons from code.org. K,1 & 2nd grade students use direction arrows and body movements to create algorithms. We also talked about all of the places that we use algorithms every day. Students in 3rd and 4th grade wrote a simple algorithm, which they changed to a program by changing the language. They then played a simple program game where one person was the controller (using body movement to show direction) and the other person was a walking machine who followed the directions to reach a goal.
5th graders used slido.com in their classroom to generate questions about voting.
After generating their questions, 5th graders used district online resources to research voting.
4th graders used Reflex math to practice fact fluency.

I'm not just a 3rd grade teacher; I'm also our technology coach! This year I will highlight some of the little things that we do that contribute to making our campus great.
