What is the AISD Digital Library, and who can use it? The AISD Digital Library is a collection of digital content (eBooks) that has been purchased by the District and can be accessed through the MackinVIA eBook platform. All AISD students and staff have access to the AISD Digital Library to use at school and at home, 24/7.
What is IN the AISD Digital Library? The AISD Digital Library contains thousands of eBooks for learning, research, and independent reading. The collection includes a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction in all genres and subjects, including picture books, readers, chapter books, informational texts, YA, graphic novels, and some content in Spanish. Students at each level (elementary, middle school, high school) will see content that is appropriate for that level.
How do we access MackinVIA?
Free APP for Apple, Android, Chromebook, etc. Search for “MackinVIA” in the app store. OR…
Browser-based interface which can be used on any computer or device with an internet browser(desktop, laptop, etc.) Go towww.mackinvia.com to log in.

To Access MackinVIA: Go to www.mackinvia.com or download the app. Start typing Joslin in the “School” box, then choose Joslin when the box pops up. (It will be the name of the school, then AUSTIN, TX.) Then log in with the Student Backpack Login: Student Backpack User ID and Password (both the same): Student # WITHOUT the "S" The student login is the student’s permnum on all registration forms. It is usually a 9 digit long number.

Click on categories (like genres) to find interesting eBooks.
Use Advanced Search filters to narrow down choices by reading level, interest level, copyright, number of pages, language, etc.
See information about eBooks, including a summary and cover image.
Open and read an eBook.
Change the way the pages are displayed, text size and color (as allowed by publisher).
Listen to the book with text-to-speech (as allowed by publisher).
Click on a word to see the definition (while online).
Get citation information and help through EasyBib.
Change the interface display from English to Spanish.
Access all of the AISD databases without having to log in again
Check out, renew, or return an eBook.
Download an eBook for offline reading.
Rate a book.
Add a title to “favorites”.
Place a hold on a title.
Highlight passages, and add notes.
Access highlights and notes in the Notebook even if somebody else has the book checked out.
Export notes to your Google Drive, or print them out.
